Amidst the forests, shorelines, and ridges of our region, Hannah Black counts twin-flowers, nudibranchs, and nighthawks as friends and neighbors. For Hannah, the natural world offers a place of connection - with self, with others, and with the non-human world. Her life’s mission is to foster this sense of connection in others.

Hannah has been teaching natural history and facilitating experiential education for more than a decade in the Pacific Northwest, the Rockies, and the Bay Area of California. As a part of her Master’s in Environmental Communication, she designed and piloted a field journaling course at Stanford University.

Hannah currently works as the Adult and Family Program Coordinator at the North Cascades Institute and formerly worked for the Institute’s Youth Leadership Adventures and Mountain School programs. She volunteers as an EMT for North Cascades National Park and loves spending time in the high country of the North Cascades on skis and on foot.
