Dave Tucker researches volcanic stratigraphy in the North Cascades. For his Masters thesis, he mapped the Hannegan caldera and associated rocks in the Ruth Mountain-Copper Ridge area. He has since conducted geologic field mapping in both Morovitz Meadows and the Lake Ann area. He is currently studying the Holocene eruptive history of Mt. Baker, in particular the 1843 ash deposits and the 9,500-year old Sulphur Creek lava flow, and will begin a geologic mapping project of volcanic rocks near Ross Lake.

A resident of Bellingham, Dave is a retired mountaineering guide who currently teaches at Western Washington University and is the director of the Mount Baker Volcano Research Center.
