The Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku, or forest bathing, is the simple, therapeutic act of spending time among trees. Studies have shown that time in nature can help reduce stress, and forest bathing has become a cornerstone of preventive health care in Japan.

This half-day experience, led by certified Forest Therapy Guide Mileva Huljev, invites participants to explore the quiet beauty of Saint Edward State Park in a new way. Mileva will guide a short walk along wooded trails, sharing simple techniques to help you connect and co-regulate with the living world around you. We will practice “nature mindfulness,” moving slowly and with intention as Mileva offers a series of gentle sensory invitations—listening, noticing, breathing—to deepen awareness and presence.

This experience is best suited for adults and older children and will be taken at a very leisurely pace, with frequent pauses. The terrain is suitable for most bodies but may include muddy or uneven sections with tree roots and rocks, as well as some gentle uphill and downhill stretches. Please reach out with any questions about accessibility. The focus is on slowing down, settling the mind, and opening to the textures and rhythms of the forest—we will not be covering much distance.

The class will conclude with a warm cup of tea and a moment of shared reflection.
