2022 Blurb

The fifth Foundations and Frontiers of Physics Education Research: Puget Sound (FFPERPS) conference will be held June 21-24, 2022, at the North Cascades Environmental Learning Center.

FFPERPS is intended as a biannual conference that provides a venue for rich dialogue among physics education researchers in the Cascadia region and beyond. It is designed to enhance communication and collaboration and to increase the visibility of work that is of high quality but not well known. The conference provides a forum for examining and articulating the current state of the field, exploring future directions, and discussing ways to pursue promising avenues of research. The structure of the conference, loosely based on that of the FFPER conference held in Bar Harbor, Maine, includes plenary talks, targeted sessions, contributed poster sessions, and substantial free time for informal interactions.

The 2020 conference will feature plenary speakers engaged in a wide variety of exciting research and scholarship around the learning and teaching of physics.

In addition, the conference will offer contributed poster sessions, as well as a series of targeted sessions/workshops.

Important Notices for Registration

When registering, you have the option to register for a double, triple/quad, or no lodging. Our conference is formatting the registrations a little differently, so please pay attention to which option you should pick.

  • Single - You are registering for a single room, and are participating in the conference. Your tuition includes meals, lodging, and conference attendance.
  • Double - You are registering for double room, and are participating in the conference. Your tuition includes meals, lodging, and conference attendance. As we get a better idea of our total numbers, we may shift some of the people in doubles to singles. There is no guarantee this will happen.
  • Triple/Quad - You are a guest sharing a room with an on-site registrant, and are not participating in the conference. Your tuition includes meals and lodging.
  • No Lodging - You are camping. Your tuition includes meals and conference attendance.

If you are a plenary speaker, the conference organizers are covering the cost of your tuition. You must register over the phone. Please call the North Cascades Institute at (360) 854-2599.
