The High Ridge: Celebrating 25 Years in the North Cascades

In 1986, wilderness rangers Saul Weisberg and Tom Fleischner dreamt of working outdoors in the North Cascades, sharing their love of the place with others and educating people about the ecology of the Pacific Northwest. Twenty-five years later, North Cascades Institute has served tens of thousands of people through a wide variety of programs, connecting people, nature and community through science, art, literature and the hands-on study of natural and cultural history. This video shares the story of the evolution of the Institute, their approach to education and why they do what they do.

Featuring interviews with Tom, Saul, Jonathan Jarvis, Robert Michael Pyle, Libby Mills, Chuck Robinson, John Miles, Jeanne Muir and Brian Scheuch. Special thanks to Bill Frisell and John Reischman & the Jaybirds for providing the music, and countless photographers for sharing their work.
