Through this guided tour and the exhibitions about the Asian Pacific American community, see how immigrants have shaped the Pacific Northwest from the early pioneer days to influencing current day issues and trends. In the late 1800s, Asian travelers came by steamship and rail to Seattle in search of opportunity and a better life. They crowded into hotels and boarding houses. They lived frugally and worked in laundries, shops, restaurants, hotels, and gambling places. Many found employment as laborers in timber, mining, railroad, and fishing industries. Some even became entrepreneurs, starting import-export businesses or establishing restaurants and cafes.

This indoor walking tour is limited to 20.
