Celebrate the Institute’s 40th Anniversary and the arrival of spring with a special weekend gathering at the North Cascades Environmental Learning Center. Enjoy a festive dinner in our lakeside dining hall overlooking Diablo Lake, a thought-provoking evening presentation, and comfortable overnight accommodations in the heart of North Cascades National Park.

As North Cascades Institute celebrates its 40th anniversary, this Spring Gathering offers a chance to come together in community — to share a meal, reflect on the Institute’s roots, and look ahead to our bright future. Our talented kitchen team will prepare a creative, seasonal menu, and the bar will feature local microbrews and wines to complement the evening’s flavors.

After dinner on Saturday, guests will enjoy a special presentation (details coming soon). 

On Sunday morning, enjoy a delicious breakfast and grab a brown-bag lunch to enjoy later in the day. Guests may choose from a selection of guided outdoor explorations in the Diablo Lake area led by our staff naturalists. They can also recommend a local trail for you to explore on your own.

If you are interested in staying at the Learning Center an additional night, guests may register to stay Friday evening as well.  There is also a commuter rate available for those who wish to attend the dinner and presentation on Saturday evening, but do not need lodging.

Your reservation includes meals, overnight accommodations, the evening presentation, and an optional naturalist-led outdoor excursion.

*Note: there are a very limited number of single-occupancy rooms available in order to make room for more guests for this special weekend. Call (360) 854-2599 to check availability.

Learning Center Accommodations

Single, Double, Triple and Quad Accommodations are for families and groups who wish to guarantee lodging with specific individuals during their stay. Triple and Quad Accommodations will require use of an upper bunk, accessible by an easy-to-use ladder. Hostel pricing is the cost for sharing a room with up to three other participants. The number of occupants per room (1-4) will be determined based on the total number of hostel guests each night. We do not guarantee a room with your requested roommate under this option, and you may be lodged in a mixed gender room. Please do not select this if you have participants under 18 in your group.

The Learning Center campus features classrooms, a dining hall, a library, outdoor learning shelters, trails, a canoe dock and an amphitheater. Our three guest lodges have shared gender-specific bathrooms with showers and each room contains two sets of twin bunk beds, desks, wardrobes and wireless internet connectivity. Facilities and local trails are all ADA accessible and a personal mobility vehicle is available. Delicious, healthy meals incorporating local and organic foods are provided in our dining hall. If you have special dietary requirements or food allergies, we will gladly attempt to accommodate them with advance notice. Sorry, but we cannot accommodate pets.
