Wildflower Wander at Stevens Pass
Event Details
Plant identification is an essential practice for any naturalist. Wherever you go, you can introduce yourself to the botanical friends you meet. While seemingly complex at first blush, plant ID is simplified if you learn to recognize not the species, not the genus, but the family of the plants you find.
This workshop takes place on Highway 2 near Stevens Pass when alpine wildflowers abound in full blossom, making it easy to observe all of their parts. Mari Schramm, a long-time teacher at the Institute, will instruct you in the use of a hand lens and botanical field guide, opening up the world of plant ID for anyone!
By the end of the day you will know how to recognize common northwest plant families, and you’ll be able to find an entirely new layer of interest and wonder on any trail!
