Autumn Trees and Landscapes: A Watercolor Workshop
Event Details
Artist and long-time Institute instructor Molly Hashimoto has appreciated trees all her life—they have shaped her as a hiker, outdoors lover, gardener, traveler, and artist. She pays homage to them through her art, working in many different media, each revealing different aspects of these stalwart companions: crisp lines, imposing silhouettes, and the subtle–or sometimes brilliant—hues of foliage.
Spend the weekend immersed in the beautiful colors of autumn at the Environmental Learning Center in the North Cascades. Together we'll paint scarlet and magenta vine maples and golden cottonwoods, their beauty heightened by the contrast of green dark forests and jade-hued Diablo Lake. Molly will guide us through techniques, including brush strokes, perspective and color mixing.
For a special treat, one day we’ll take a field trip up to Washington Pass to see and paint the North Cascades’ famous golden Larch trees, weather permitting. Rooted in place, trees offer endless opportunities for observation, admiration, relaxation, and inspiration.
