Every year we invite people who are looking for a way to contribute to the beloved North Cascades Environmental Learning Center and surrounding wildlands campus to join Institute staff for a weekend of tending to the land. This year, because of high demand for our Spring Stewardship Weekend, we've decided to add another opportunity to give back to this special place with our first-ever Fall Stewardship Weekend!

For this specially-priced weekend, we'll work on a variety of essential projects to benefit the native plants and animals of the area, including thinning, mulching, invasive plant removal and working to reduce the risk of wildfire on campus. Other important projects may include trail maintenance, upkeep of campus features and also trips to our Confluence Property in Marblemount for work in the Foodshed Garden and habitat around the Skagit River.

Our hard work will be rewarded when our kitchen crew serves up delicious meals prepared with local, organic ingredients — a highlight of any trip to Diablo Lake! We’ll end our days with local storytellers who will share evening presentations and campfire discussions before you retire to our comfortable guest lodges with the satisfaction of a job well done.

If you’re looking for a way to “give back” to the North Cascades and contribute to the Institute’s conservation mission, the Fall Stewardship Weekend might be just what you’re looking for!
