Just three hours from Seattle or two from Bellingham, the North Cascades Environmental Learning Center offers the perfect blend of adventure and comfort. Nestled on the wooded shores of Diablo Lake, our inviting lodges, cozy library, lakeside dining hall, outdoor gathering spaces, and scenic trails set the stage for an unforgettable outdoor experience.

Enjoy delicious, wholesome meals prepared and served in our historic lakeside Dining Hall. Mealtime is a time to gather, savor, and share stories of the day’s adventures. Whether you’re sipping coffee as the sun rises or indulging in a nightly dessert, you’ll find something to please every palate.

Each day, our naturalists lead hands-on, engaging activities tailored to the season. From guided explorations of local wildlife and ecosystems to creative crafts and outdoor games, there’s always something exciting to discover in the great outdoors. You’ll also have ample free time to explore, relax, or simply enjoy nature at your own pace — whether hiking, lounging by the lake or quiet reading or board games in our cozy library and lounges.

After the sun sets, we’ll gather around the campfire for stories, songs and stargazing under the North Cascades sky. The night is filled with laughter, connection and awe as the stars light up the wilderness.

By the end of your stay, you’ll feel refreshed, inspired, and connected — not only to nature but also to your fellow campers. Your children will leave with new friendships, and you’ll all be wondering when you can return for another adventure!

We welcome all families, whether traditional or nontraditional, including parents, grandparents, guardians, aunts, uncles, and friends. Children under three join for free, and while parents or guardians are responsible for their children, we offer at least one “kids-only” session during the program for added fun and discovery.
