The Salish Sea is abundant in sea birds making their way along the Pacific Flyway in Northwest waters. Come aboard the Snow Goose, a spacious 65-foot vessel captained by Captain Dan Liden, and we’ll explore the waters of Bellingham Bay, Lummi Island and surrounding areas in search of scoters, loons, murres, auklets, guillemots, cormorants and a variety of gulls with an expert naturalist.

Andy DeBroux

Past excursions have also spotted marine mammals and enjoyed spectacular views of Mt. Baker, the Chuckanut Mountains, the Nooksack River estuary, Rosario Strait and San Juan Islands from our unique water-level perspective.

Our naturalist guide Amanda Colbert will help us identify and share the natural history of the bird species we encounter along the way. Rain or shine, all levels of birders welcome!

Class will meet at Squalicum Harbor in Bellingham at 8:30 am. With binoculars and field guides in hand, we’ll depart for our day’s adventure in search of all the avifauna we can find. Participants provide their own lunches.
