Adventures NW Magazine presents a photography workshop at the North Cascades Environmental Learning Center designed to inspire you to take your photography to the next level.

In this hands-on workshop, we’ll have an opportunity to make photographs in the beautiful North Cascades. The North Cascades are a photographer’s paradise -- a wonderland of alpine gardens, awesome rockscapes and glacier-swaddled peaks. The centerpiece of this workshop will be a field trip to the high country where we’ll capture the visual essence of these unforgettable mountains.

Back at the Environmental Learning Center, we’ll use Adobe Lightroom to bring out the best in your images. We’ll also discuss the use of Photoshop as well as other plug-ins that can be used in conjunction with Lightroom. Once the images are optimized, we will share and discuss the work as a group. Finally, we’ll spend time learning to print our work. Everyone will go home with at least one print - ready for framing - from the workshop.

When we’re not photographing and processing, you’re invited to soak up the views of Pyramid and Colonial Peaks, linger on the shores of Diablo Lake, walk the local trails, enjoy delicious, organic meals prepared in our historic dining hall, find a book to curl up with in the Wild Ginger Library and rest in comfort at night in our guest lodges.

Bring a digital camera and a laptop with Adobe Lightroom installed and optionally Photoshop as well. Previous experience with Lightroom or Photoshop helpful, but not required. A 30-day trial of both Lightroom and Photoshop can be downloaded from the Adobe website (if you don't bring a laptop, you will still benefit from an introduction to this software).

LEARNING CENTER ACCOMMODATIONS: Single, Double, Triple and Quad Accommodations are for families and groups who wish to guarantee lodging with specific individuals during their stay. Triple and Quad Accommodations will require use of an upper bunk, accessible by an easy-to-use ladder. Hostel pricing is the cost for sharing a room with up to three other participants. The number of occupants per room (1-4) will be determined based on the total number of hostel guests each night. We do not guarantee a room with your requested roommate under this option, and you may be lodged in a mixed gender room. Please do not select this if you have participants under 18 in your group.

The Learning Center campus features classrooms, a dining hall, a library, outdoor learning shelters, trails, a canoe dock and an amphitheater. Our three guest lodges have shared gender-specific bathrooms with showers and each room contains two sets of twin bunk beds, desks, wardrobes and wireless internet connectivity. Facilities and local trails are all ADA accessible and a personal mobility vehicle is available. Delicious, healthy meals incorporating local and organic foods are provided in our dining hall. If you have special dietary requirements or food allergies, we will gladly attempt to accommodate them with advance notice. Sorry, but we cannot accommodate pets.
