Coronavirus Safety Precautions

North Cascades Institute is committed to the safety of our staff, guests and community.

Vaccinations are required for most of our program participants effective September 17 and until further notice (Skagit Tours are exempt). Bring your vaccination card with you to your program. If you or your children are unable to be vaccinated due to age or a medical condition, you may substitute a negative COVID-19 test taken within the last 72 hours before your program starts.  A lab-processed PCR test is our preferred option. However, if you are unable to get an appointment and a result in this time period, you may purchase an antigen self-test at a local pharmacy. These tests are packaged in pairs and require two negative results spaced 30 hours apart. Please photograph the cards showing two negative results. Bring the photographs or your PCR test result document to your program check in. Children two years old and younger are exempt from this policy.

If you have a positive test result or are exhibiting any COVID-19 symptoms, please cancel your registration to receive a full refund.

For 2021 programs at the Environmental Learning Center, we've made several modifications to operations that serve to enhance everyone's safety in a positive way, including.

  • All of our staff are vaccinated!
  • Lodge rooms are private or limited to household groups currently living together
  • Come prepared to wear masks anywhere indoors other than your own room.
  • Classrooms and the Wild Ginger Library are open on a limited basis
  • Programs and activities are held outdoors whenever possible and organized to allow physical distancing
  • Institute staff will provide hand sanitizer, regularly disinfect surfaces and make sure the safety plan is being followed

These modifications are fluid and evolving in concert with the changing guidelines and rules as outlined by the Governor's office. Feel free to call us with any questions: (360) 854-2599.
