Coronavirus Safety Precautions

North Cascades Institute is committed to the safety of our staff, guests and community. Things continue to change in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic and our policies evolve with the latest information and guidance from state and federal health agencies. At the Environmental Learning Center, our policies are also influenced by National Park Service and Seattle City Light requirements. We are in uncharted territory and doing the best we can with the information at hand. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to move through this together.

Effective March 10, 2022:

COVID Vaccines are required for all Adult and Family program participants and Conferences & Retreats guests, as well as our entire staff.

  • Everyone age 6 and up are required to be vaccinated to participate. Participants will indicate their vaccine date on program forms.
  • Kids age 5 and under are required to provide proof of a negative COVID rapid test within 24 hours or less of their program. They can purchase a rapid test at the ELC if needed.

COVID Vaccines are not required for Mountain School students, in alignment with school district policies. They are not required for Youth Leadership Adventures participants, who will be tested at program start and then form pods in the backcountry.

While we strongly encourage boosters for an individual's health and safety, we are not requiring boosters for participants or staff.

Masking and social distancing are no longer required in our programs or at the Learning Center campus.

If you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, have tested positive for COVID-19 or have been in close contact with someone who has had COVID-19, please contact us to cancel your registration for a full refund.

These modifications are fluid and evolving in concert with the changing guidelines and rules. Feel free to call us with any questions: (360) 854-2599.
