With brush in hand, dramatic mountain vistas layered in greens, grays and blues will certainly stir creativity within the artist’s soul. Join artist Michelle Cooper at the North Cascades Environmental Learning Center and learn an entire repertoire of techniques to express our “wild nearby” with watercolors — a flexible medium that seems designed especially for the mystical Pacific Northwest!
Teaching to all levels, Michele will lead the group as we carve out the deep shadows of early morning on Pyramid Peak, dab our brushes wet-on-wet to express the mid-day chartreuse of vine maples, glaze the limitless light of summer skies and drybrush the late afternoon waves on Diablo Lake.
Take your handmade nature journal from the classroom out on an easy trek as we sketch and learn more about the flora and fauna from one of the Center's naturalists. The Learning Center's neighborhood offers endless inspiration and subject matter to practice our plein air painting in a supportive environment of fellow artists and nature lovers.
When you’re not painting, feel free to soak up the views of Pyramid and Colonial Peaks, linger on the shores of Diablo Lake, dine on healthful, organic, delicious meals prepared in our historic dining hall, find a book to curl up with in the Wild Ginger Library and rest in comfort at night in our guest lodges.
Art supplies are not included in tuition; you will receive a list of what to bring prior to class.
