Hansa yellow, alizarin crimson, yellow ochre, indanthrone blue, carbazole violet: join us for a weekend of art in the North Cascades during the glorious ripening of fall colors! Painters of all levels are welcome to the North Cascades Environmental Learning Center to learn techniques to capture the golden hues of autumn in the dramatic landscape of the Wild Nearby.
Our instructor will teach us how to paint vine maples, larches and big-leaf maples in their fall transition. Institute naturalists will share the natural history of the many species of conifers in the North Cascades. Throughout the weekend, we'll gather inspiration by exploring the Diablo Lake neighborhood and taking an extended field trip up to Washington Pass. Here, beneath the towering granite of the Early Winter Spires and Liberty Bell, we’ll take a short hike where we can view and paint the glowing larch trees.
When you're not painting, feel free to soak up the views of Pyramid and Colonial Peaks, linger on the shores of Diablo Lake, dine on healthful, organic, delicious meals prepared in our historic dining hall, find a book to curl up with in the Wild Ginger Library and rest in comfort at night in our guest lodges.
