Give Big for Youth!

Research consistently shows that time spent outdoors is beneficial for young people, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds. Outdoor school has positive impacts on students’ motivation and interest to learn, critical thinking skills, physical and mental health, and development of identity.

Why Give BIG

Your donation will help 5th graders attend MOUNTAIN SCHOOL, our 3-day, 2-night program that introduces students to the natural and cultural history of the North Cascades. Participants benefit from spending time outside and learning how humans and the natural world are interconnected.

Students, teachers, and chaperones look forward to this annual opportunity to explore a “classroom without walls” where they can connect with nature and each other. Many schools build Mountain School into their curriculums for deeper learning and we strive to serve whole districts for an equitable outdoor experience.

Your gift will also help high school students experience canoe-camping and backpacking in the North Cascades through YOUTH LEADERSHIP ADVENTURES (YLA). In an alpine environment shaped by glaciers, students gain skills to safely recreate outdoors, while discovering a love for the natural world and a deeper confidence in themselves.

Through interactive lessons, leadership development, discussions around climate change solutions, and stewardship projects with the National Park and Forest Service, YLA participants are inspired to envision a hopeful, joyful, and sustainable future for the North Cascades ecosystem and individuals within it.

Thanks to your generous support, we can continue to foster equitable opportunities for young people to discover, reflect, learn, grow and thrive in the outdoors.
