The coldblooded creatures of the North Cascades occupy a special niche in our ecosystem. They need to have hiding spaces to take refuge from the cold and hot, while needed to find places to bask in the sun to warm their bodies.
Join Institute naturalists and our public land partners for a day of searching under rocks and bushes for our reptilian friends. We will start off the day learning about some of the reptiles in our areas, focusing mainly on the snakes in our area, then we’ll head out in to the field to see what we can find.
Our team will be recording snake observations for the Center for Snake Conservation’s nationwide effort to create an instantaneous snapshot of the continent’s snake populations.
