Named for the picturesque, glacier-fed lake that laps the wooded shore of the Environmental Learning Center, Diablo Downtime offers you the opportunity to explore our wild and scenic neighborhood at your own pace. Each day, Institute naturalists will offer a variety of activities ranging from yoga classes to guided hikes to a voyage in our 18-person canoe. You may also choose to spend the day on your own timeline, exploring local trails and beaches, marveling at the scenery, reading and writing in the Wild Ginger library and communing with friends old and new.

In the evenings, you are invited to enjoy presentations on the natural and cultural history of this unique region, gaze at the stars and sit around a campfire exchanging personal adventures, poetry and music.

Throughout the weekend, you’ll become acquainted with the Institute’s Foodshed Project -- our initiative to use as much fresh, local, organic ingredients from local farms of the Skagit Valley as possible and to teach about sustainable agriculture, wild edibles and culturally important foods of the Pacific Northwest. You’ll be treated to three delicious meals a day in our lakeside dining hall.

A chance to relax and rejuvenate, Diablo Downtime is perfect for personal getaways, book or hiking clubs, reunions with old friends, wellness retreats and other occasions. Slow down and savor autumn in the North Cascades at your own pace this fall.
