Staff
Based in the Skagit Valley town of Sedro-Woolley, North Cascades Institute has an exemplary staff working in the office as well as the field. Staff turnover is low, though as permanent and seasonal positions become available, we will post them below. Of course, we always enjoy learning about new people, so please introduce yourself via a resume and a letter describing your skills and interests. We keep resumes on file for one year.

Contract Instructors
We invite naturalists, scientists, educators, writers and artists to submit proposals to teach adult field seminars as independent contractors. Typical seminars are small, averaging 12 students, and last from 1-5 days. Classes take place primarily in the field, using accommodations from backcountry campsites to rustic cabins and comfortable resorts. Groups share potluck meals in the evening, with participants generally responsible for their own food. Seminars focus on natural and cultural history and may include writing and visual arts. Our classes are strongly academic; many are offered for 400-level credit through Western Washington University and for teacher clock hour certification.
